Le Defi Paprec

Le Défi Paprec: The Gateway to the Solitaire

I am thrilled to announce my next major challenge on the circuit: Le Défi Paprec.

While the legendary La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec is known as the ultimate test of solo offshore racing, the Défi Paprec offers a high-octane twist. Myself and Sailor Jens Meiser will be tackling the entire first leg of the Solitaire, but in a double-handed format. It’s a sprint that combines the brutal intensity of the Figaro class with the tactical synergy of a duo.

The Course: Perros-Guirec to Vigo

The race kicks off on May 17, 2026, from the stunning pink granite coast of Perros-Guirec. From there, we dive straight into the deep end:

  • The Channel & Brittany Coast: Navigating complex tides and rocky headlands.

  • Wolf Rock: A symbolic turn at the lighthouse off the tip of Cornwall.

  • The Bay of Biscay: A legendary 615-mile trek across open water, where the weather can make or break a race.

  • The Finish: We’ll battle south to reach the finish line in Vigo, Spain.

Why This Race?

This is my first season in the Figaro Beneteau 3 class, and every mile is a massive learning curve. The Défi Paprec is specifically designed as a "training ground" for the full Solitaire, allowing us to experience the logistical and physical demands of the professional circuit while sharing the workload of a double-handed crew.

Current Momentum

I’m heading into this event with my head held high. Following the recent BPGO (Banque Populaire Grand Ouest) event, I’m feeling incredibly confident. The boat speed is there, the maneuvers are becoming second nature, and most importantly, I’ve found a competitive edge.
